Roy Lee Marcom Jr., 80, of Alba, Texas, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 in Tyler, Texas.

Roy was born March 9, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, to Roy Lee Marcom Sr. and Ruby Louise (Curtis) Marcom. He married Beverly Ann Good October 17, 1963, in Farmers Branch, Texas.

He trained more than 575 American Quarter Horse race winners and horses that earned more than $5.7 million on the racetrack. Among his top horses were Grade 1 winner WR Golden Eagle, and graded stakes winners Heavenly Trip, Makamaddash, Runnin Roscoe, Mr Moon Policy, Flare For Toby and Jodies Pop Pop. 

Roy is survived by his wife, Beverly of Emory; three sons, Bryan Matthew Marcom of Fort Myers, Florida, Bradley Otis Marcom of Alba, and Brandon Lee Marcom of Alba; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Greg Marcom and wife Marlina of Ruidoso, New Mexico.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruby.

Visitation will be held 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, Texas, and the funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. with Ed Bonneau officiating.
