Favorite Cartel colt Fly The Coup tops the second day of the three-day sale.

Fly The Coup, a son of Favorite Cartel and the Grade 1-placed Strawfly Special mare Babe On The Fly, sold for $250,000 to top the second day of the three-day Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale at Ruidoso Downs.

Jimmy and Marilyn Harrell, Lana Merrick Bailey, and Bradbury Racing purchased Fly The Coup from the consignment of Burns Ranch Inc., agent. The colt is a full brother to Golden State Million Futurity (G1) winner Little Talks and a half brother to Ruidoso Derby (G1) winner Rock You.

He was one of two yearlings that sold for more than $200,000 on the second night, which had a 7.5-percent increase and 15 yearlings changing hands for $100,000 or more. 

A total of 237 yearlings have sold for gross receipts of $10,794,700 during the first two days of the sale, an increase of 17 percent over the first two days of the 2018 sale, when 211 head sold for $9,254,000.

Ms Apollitical Jess sold for $200,000 to Michael and Beth Harper from the 6666 Ranch, agent for Sam W. Green.

The daughter of Apollitical Jess was produced by Ms Southern Dynasty, the dam of two Grade 1 winners. She is the dam of Grade 1 Ruidoso Futurity winner Uptown Dynasty and 2019 Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity winner Uptowne Babe.

The third high-seller, at $180,000, was Prize Fight, a son of Mr Jess Perry and produced by three-time stakes winning producer Fast Prize Corona.

Prize Fight was consigned by Four Sixes Ranch for Weetona Stanley and Burnett Ranches LLC. He was purchased by Dr. Glenn Blodgett.

Fast Prize Corona is the dam of Grade 1 AQHA Distance Challenge Championship winner CR Tuckernuck. Fast Prize Corona is a daughter Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity winner Fast First Prize. This is the direct family of broodmare of the year First Prize Dash.
