Sandy Downs in Idaho Falls has cancelled its 2020 season, which was scheduled to open on June 19.
"We have tried to postpone as long as possible not knowing how long current restrictions will stay in place due to COVID-19," a post on the Ida Racing website stated. "However, due to the City of Idaho Falls and their non-refundable cancellation policy, we had only until April 3rd to cancel our currently scheduled race dates.
"We did express our interest in trying to work with the city on securing later race dates if possible as schedules permit," the post added. "Our highest priority is to keep everyone, along with all horses safe and healthy. Refunds will be issued for all nomination fees. We are hopeful for the return of Iive horse racing in Idaho Falls and thank you to all of our fans, sponsors, trainers and racers."
