Valiant Tiberias was a prompt 9-10 favorite in Saturday's $100,000 Sooner State Stakes (RG1) for aged Oklahoma-bred runners at Remington Park.

Prepped by Marco Chavez-Gutierrez for owners Sergio Holguin, Clifton Nielsen and Felix Rodriguez, Valiant Tiberias went 400 yards in :19.503, and his margin of victory was one length from 15-1 longshot Oatman Creek Senator. James Flores rode the 5-year-old Valiant Hero gelding.

"I just kept him busy the whole race," said Flores, who was winning the Sooner State Stakes for the fourth time in its history. "He is just super good."

Valiant Tiberias was bred by Reliance Ranches LLC, and he was shortening in distance off of his head victory in the 440-yard, $66,000 Bank of America Oklahoma Championship Challenge (G2) at Remington Park on March 27. The brown gelding has won his last three starts, and he ended his 4-year-old campaign with a head victory in the 440-yard, $200,000 Refrigerator Stakes (G1) at Lone Star Park on October 25.

Raced in three states, including New Mexico and Texas, Valiant Tiberias has won 10 of 21 starts and has earned $661,593.

Jess My Hocks finished third, a head behind Oatman Creek Senator. Eagles Fly Higher, Jesse D, HR Storm On In, Mr Dillard, Hooked On A Win, and Regards To Cartel completed the order of finish.
