Turf Paradise Futurity Qualifiers

Fields are set for the Desert Classic, AQRA Turf Paradise Open Spring futurities.

Jason T. Giles' Day Thuggin on Monday posted the fastest qualifying time to the April 28, $30,000 Desert Classic Futurity at Turf Paradise.

Ridden by Adrian Ramos for trainer Wes Giles, Day Thuggin won the last of three 300-yard trials by a nose in :15.652. The homebred son of Big Daddy Cartel was making his career debut.

Day Thuggin was bred in New Mexico. The gelding is out of Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle, a homebred 10-year-old daughter of Maknmoves who won the 2013 Four Corners Futurity (G3) at SunRay Park.

On Tuesday, B In Excess recorded the fastest qualifying time to the April 28, $17,500-added AQRA Turf Paradise Open Spring Futurity.

Prepped by Eloy Navarro for owner S & S Horses, B In Excess won the first of six 300-yard heats by 1 1/2 lengths in :15.508. Kevin Carbajal rode the homebred Freighttrain B filly, who was making her first career start.

B In Excess was bred in California and is out of Excess In Tambien (TB), an unraced daughter of the Siberian Express (TB) stallion In Excess (TB).
