Colleen R. Cotey was raised on a small farm in rural western Washington. She has had her childhood horse, Ecko (a Breeding Stock Paint) for 20 years, and they still race through the woods like when they were kids! Besides competing in 4-H with Ecko in everything from pleasure driving to competitive trail, the artist has helped start colts on a working cattle ranch in Colorado and lead horse treks in Ireland, where she lived for nearly four years. Wherever life takes her, the horse usually remains the centerpiece.
Colleen’s wire sculptures are held in private collections around the world. She is a Signature Member of the prestigious Society of Animal Artists, New York (SAA). In 2014 she was the recipient of the Evelyn and Peter Haller Distinguished Young Artist Award by the SAA.
Today, Colleen resides in Olympia, Washington, with her Irish husband, stock horses, rescue dogs and cat.
