Added money paid out to racing American Quarter Horses was up more than 5 percent in October when compared to last year’s figures. Added money during the month reached $13,194,427, a gain of 5.3 percent.

The month saw races, purses and handle slip over previous figures. There were 926 races offered with $14,684,864 in purses handling $26,239,925.

Year totals are showing gains almost across the board. Races are up 3 percent over last year, reaching 7,673 in year-to-date figures. Purses are up slightly to $109,812,458 this year. Average earnings per starter are also up this year, rising nearly 3 percent to $6,911 per starter.

Total added money is up in year-to-date figures, showing an increase of a half percent to $86,937,417. Handle dipped slightly to $253,975,935.

These numbers reflect races processed by November 6.
