Jess Found Joy Tops Ruidoso Training Races Day 3

Tommy Turner’s Jess Found Joy raced 300 yards in :15.614 to win the ninth schooling race on Wednesday at Ruidoso Downs and hold the fastest time from the 12 races on the program.

Jess Found Joy, a daughter of Mr Jess Perry out of the Royal Quick Dash daughter Endless Delight, defeated Fly Thru The Fire by three quarters of a length.

Fly Thru The Fire (Walk Thru Fire-Babe On The Fly by Strawfly Special) had the day’s second-fastest time of :15.710. He was purchased by R.D. Hubbard, Paul Blanchard, Johnny Cope and Butch Southway for $200,000 through the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.

Jess Found Joy is trained by Blane Wood while Fly Thru The Fire is conditioned by Paul Jones.

The overall top time from the 38 schooling races held over three days was set on Tuesday by Johnny Trotter’s homebred Strategic Weapon. The Wood-trained gelding turned in a :15.492 time.

Many of the two-year-olds competing in the Ruidoso Downs’s schooling races will return in the trials to the Grade 1, $750,000 Ruidoso Futurity on opening day of the summer season, May 24. Their other major objectives are probably the Grade 1, $1 million Rainbow Futurity and the Grade 1, $2.6 million All American Futurity.
