While American Quarter Horse racing figures are up in 2012, compared to last year, monthly figures dipped in July.

The year-to-date figures show gains in almost all major categories, including a 3.7 percent increase in races, a 1.1 percent gain in purses and a 1.2 percent gain in added money. Monthly figures show that in July, there were about 7 percent less races held during the month. Following that, purses were down 8.9 percent, added money was down 8.2 percent and handle was down 10.4 percent from the same time last year. 

These numbers reflect races processed in the AQHA database by August 7.
