On December 11, the Ocala Training Center hosted its very first Quarter Horse race.

The race was conducted to activate the Quarter Horse permit at the Ocala Breeders Sale Co. in Ocala, Florida. A Thoroughbred race was also conducted. The race was an approved AQHA race.

The OBS is working with the Florida Quarter Horse Racing Association. Any full race meet that involves a card room, casino or other gaming requires a full schedule of live racing and a written signed agreement with the horsemen’s group. Plans for discussions of a full schedule of live racing are in the works.

Call Me Easy Money won the 200-yard allowance race run for a purse of $7,500. Ridden by Diego Gomez for trainer Albino Rossi, the 6-year-old stallion cruised home by 1 ¼ lengths. The stallion owned by Jose Gallegos won in :11.977. It is his second win in 11 starts and boosts his earnings to $18,629. His other 10 starts include one race at Remington Park, with the remainder coming at Hialeah.  Vision Quest Corona was second, followed by Conquistadorable B, Tonis Achievement, Dashing Vince Cat, Lil Dashing Effort, Williams Cat and Ms Herione.
