Sweetwater Downs at Rock Springs, Wyoming, is set to run eight days of live racing in 2013. This is an increase of two days from last year.

The track will host live racing on four consecutive weekends, beginning August 17 and ending September 8.

The stakes schedule is highlighted by the $25,000-added Sweetwater Futurity for 2-year-olds at 350 yards. The race is set for September 1, with trials August 17.

Also featured is the $12,500-added Sweetwater Derby at 400 yards. The race is August 31, with trials to be run August 18.

Sweetwater is also carding a $12,500-added, 350-yard 89 & Under Stakes (not an official stakes) for horses that have never run a 90 or above speed index prior to January 1. In addition there is a $12,500-added Claiming Futurity (not an official stakes) at 350 yards for horses running for a $5,000 claiming purse.

Nomination payments for the stakes are due June 1. For more information, or to see the stakes schedule, visit the Sweetwater Downs website.

Sweetwater Downs reopened for live racing in 2011 after being shuttered for 18 years. Last year, La Botella Racing Stables' Agent Of Move won the $52,250 Sweetwater Futurity.

In February, Wyoming legislators passed a rule allowing pari-mutuel wagering on historic horse races.
