Bipty Dash Wins Billy Montgomery Stakes
Heza Fast Dash mare records career win number 11.
October 19, 2013
Recording her seventh win in nine starts this year, Ivan Alford’s Bipty Dash prevailed by a nose in Saturday’s $30,000 Billy Montgomery Stakes (RG3) at Evangeline Downs. The Heza Fast Dash mare broke sharply from post 10 and defeated Streakin Ellen by a nose in :17.410 for 350 yards. Alfonso Lujan piloted the 4-year-old Louisiana-bred for trainer Ricky Long.
A $5,000 claim by Alford in August 2012, Bipty Dash has turned into a win machine this year. She started her 2013 campaign with a fifth-place finish against $7,500 claimers and since then has won seven of eight starts with a second-place finish. She now has two stakes wins after taking the Opelousas Stakes (R) in her previous outing. Her lifetime record stands at 22-11-3-1 with earnings of $157,480.
Eric Johnson’s Streakin Ellen, a daughter of Game Patriot, finished second for the third consecutive time against stakes company. The 3-year-old filly has hit the board in nine of her 10 career starts with earnings of $109,720.
La Mos Chingono, another daughter of Heza Fast Dash and the winner of a division of the Billy Montgomery Stakes last year, took third.
