Blue Piranha Eats Up Les Bois Bonus Challenge

Fishers Dash gelding holds on to prevail in blanket finish.

Elida Escobedo's 6-year-old Blue Piranha finished best after a bumping incident to win the $10,650 Treasure Valley Racing Bonus Challenge on Friday evening at Les Bois Park. The race is part of the Bonus Challenge presented by Markel for Bank of America Racing Challenge-enrolled horses.

Under jockey Jerry Remer, the Fishers Dash gelding out of My Blueberry Chick, by Chicks Beduino, completed this 440-yard task in :21.581 for a 111 speed index. The $6,390 winner's check pushed his career total to more than $120,000.

Samuel Christensen trains the gray, who was bred in California by Martha Wells. He is 6-6-3 in 35 career starts.

R Chump Change, who came out and bumped, finished a neck off the winner in second under jockey Tyson Lusk. Travis Offret trains the Cashin Man gelding for a partnership that includes himself, Allan Goldman and Tom Peffer. Beck and Allen Clark bred the 4-year-old out of Jewel Cartel, by Corona Cartel, in Utah.

Vodka Soda No Fruit put in a good effort for owners/breeders Bob and Scott Giltner. The Shazoom 6-year-old finished a head back in third. Never Marin was aboard for trainer for Kurt Calton. The gray gelding is out of Cash Curve, by Royal Quick Dash.

Classic Blush, Miss Gisele, Lil Bitts A Dasher, Never Tell and The Right Live completed the order of finish.
