Charette-Hill Has Top Two in CBY Derby

Trainer has top-two qualifiers in weekend stakes.

The hottest stakes trainer in Minnesota, Stacy Charette-Hill, saddles the top-two-qualifiers – trial winners HR Money Maker and First Prize Wagon – in the $54,100 Canterbury Derby on Saturday afternoon.

Charette-Hill qualified five horses, topped by the three fastest qualifiers, to the $133,525 Mystic Lakes Northlands Futurity last week.

Bobby and Vickie Hammer’s HR Money Maker (Voghts Gold-Tap Your Toes (TB) by Tycoon Todd) won his maiden for a $15,000 tag back in September and raced to his second career win when he took the second of three Canterbury Derby trials by a length. His time wasof :19.837 for the 400 yards,

HR Money Maker was the 6-5 trial favorite after finishing third, beaten by just a neck, in a conditioned $25,000 allowance race at Remington Park.

Michael Pohl’s homebred First Prize Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-First Prize Kate by Fly Jess Fly) prevailed by a head in his trial to win his maiden in his 10th career start. He battled with fourth-fastest qualifier Girls Dont Seis (Tres Seis-Girling by First Down Dash) to get the win in :19.860.

T-Bill Stables’ Patriots Dream 123 (Game Patriot-If One Can Dream by Dash For Perks) rides a three-race winning streak into the Canterbury Derby. After closely winning two allowance races at Remington Park, the Kasey Willis-trained filly pulled out to win her trial by a length, with the third-fastest time of :19.869.
