Chics Delight Returns in Claborn

Chics Delight returns to the races at Will Rogers Downs.

September 21, 2012

Tina and Dale Kolb’s Chics Delight, a close second in the Merial Distaff Remington Park Challenge, makes her first start since May when she faces a contentious field in the $20,000 Charlie Claborn Memorial Stakes for fillies and mares on Saturday afternoon at Will Rogers Downs.

Chics Delight (Chics Doit-Easy Hempen Chic by Easy Jets Image) had a consistent meet at Remington Park last spring, but could not quite break through with a stakes win. In addition to her runner-up effort in the Merial Distaff Remington Park Challenge, the Kolb-trained mare finished second in the Decketta Stakes (G2) and was moved up to second after a disqualification in the Bob Moore Stakes (G2).

Dr. Francis Glowacki and L97 Trust’s Black Rosalita (Sweet First Down-Poneta by Tolltac) should be in sharp form for trainer Luz Chavira after racing to a half-length win over allowance rivals on September 8 at Will Rogers. The former claimer also qualified for the $92,000 Speedhorse Derby.

Sammy Manek’s homebred 3-year-old Hi Ho Desirio (Desirio-Chasinthebigdream by Pure D Dash) takes the big jump to the stakes division and takes on older mares after three straight wins for a $15,000 claiming price. She won her maiden and then moved up the condition ladder to score her next two victories.
