Victor Silva’s 3-year-old Bux For Bricks, second in the $441,790 TQHA Sale Futurity (RG2), meets older Texas-bred fillies and mares over 330 yards as the morning-line favorite in a wide-open $20,000 Silestone Stakes on Friday night at Sam Houston Race Park.

Bux For Bricks (Zoomin For Bux-Brick House Blonde by First Wrangler) has made only one start since her second-place finish in the TQHA Sale Futurity in July. She has made five career starts and also qualified for the $191,560 Harrah’s Futurity (G3) a year ago.

In her only start since the TQHA Futurity, she was fourth in her Evangeline Downs Futurity trial.

Cesar Rosales’ Mi Angela (Jet Black Patriot-Dashin Follies by Strawfly Special) has the breeding and won the $20,000 Beautiful Prairie Stakes at Hialeah Park two starts ago. The half-sister to leading sire PYC Paint Your Wagon battled to a head win in the Beautiful Prairie after taking a $19,500 Hialeah allowance race in her previous start. She was third in last year’s Silestone Stakes.

Pete Scarmardo’s homebred Down For A Fortune (Down N Dash-Separatist Fortune by Separatist) has won two of three outs at Sam Houston Race Park. She raced to her career-best performance when she won the $42,873 Bank of America Sam Houston Maiden Challenge by three-quarters of a length over 350 yards last spring.
