DM Streakn Thru Fire in Lovington Stakes

Accomplished gelding earns first career stakes win in Zia Park stakes.

Multiple Grade 1-placed DM Streakn Thru Fire earned his first career stakes victory on Sunday at Zia Park as the 4-year-old gelded son of Walk Thru Fire scored a three-quarter length victory in the $55,360 Lovington Stakes (G2). With G.R. Carter Jr. in the saddle for conditioner Michael Joiner and owners Rick Sturdivant, Terry Wootan and Joe David Yates, the Oklahoma-bred covered 400 yards in :19.336.

DM Streakn Thru Fire, who was bred by Don Moler out of the Grade 3-winning Sixarun mare Sashay N Six, picked up his fifth career win in 15 starts and increased his bankroll to $366,173. The gelding finished third in both the Texas Classic Futurity (G1) and Rainbow Derby (G1) and also qualified to the All American Futurity (G1) and All American Derby (G1).

JD Baccarat, the winner of the Higheasterjet Handicap (G3) earlier in the year at Ruidoso Downs, closed well to take second. Zulu Dragon, who captured the James Isaac Hobbs Stakes (G2) at Zia, took third.
