Making his first start since winning an allowance at Lethbridge in May, FDD Trickze got up in the final stride to put a head in front of Tres Bubbles and post the top qualifying time for the Alberta Bred Derby at Northlands Park on Wednesday evening.

The ten fastest Alberta-bred qualifiers will return to the Edmonton racetrack on Saturday, August 16, and vie for the winner's share of a $25,000-est. purse going 330 yards.

Ridden by Larris Allen, FDD Trickze completed the course in :17.150 into a 15 mph headwind to earn a 93 speed index and set the top qualifying mark. The FDD Dynasty gelding was the first of three finalists saddled by Kurt Calton.

Janice and Barry Sather bred-and-own the 3-year-old out of Keep On Keepin On, by Dash To Chivato. Keepin Good Karma has earned $33,751.

The aforementioned Tres Bubbles held on to the third fastest mark of :17.170, another 93 speed index. Bradford Stewart rode the Tres Seis filly for owner Herds Racing and trainer/breeder Donalda Cochrane. The bay miss is out of the Streakin La Jolla mare Bubbles La Jolla.
