September 22, 2013
Her O Don Won, trained by Russell Harris and ridden by Larry Payne, posted the fastest time out of 13 trial races for the Dash For Cash Futurity (G1) over a fast track Saturday at Lone Star Park. The Texas-bred gelding by Valiant Hero broke alertly and was in front to the wire in the eighth trial race of the night. His final time for the 400-yard effort was :19.570, earning a speed index of 95. Bred and owned by Richard R. Scott of Wimberley, Texas, Her O Don Won will return Saturday, October 5, for the $454,350 Dash for Cash Futurity.
Her O Don Won came to Lone Star after three races at Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico where he competed in trials to the Grade 1 Ruidoso, Rainbow and All American futurities. The gelding finished off the board in his Ruidoso Futurity trial and then took second in his Rainbow heat and third in his All American trial but failed to qualify to either final. He broke his maiden in the Dash For Cash trials.
Crowson Racing’s Thrill Me Baby, a daughter of Mr Jerry Perry who broke her maiden at Ruidoso and then had troubled trips in trials for the Rainbow and All American, upset the second trial and posted the second-fastest qualifying time of :19.633. Raul Herrera rode for trainer Anna Crowson.
