Horton Racing LLC’s Heroes Heart broke her maiden Friday evening as she posted the top qualifying mark for the John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge at the Iowa racetrack near Des Moines.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return September 18 and vie for the winner's share of a $30,000-added purse and an invite to the John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) on October 27 during Bank of America Challenge Championships Night at Prairie Meadows.

Under jockey Stormy Smith, Heroes Heart finished strongly to defeat Nomomonkeybizness by three-quarters of a length. Her time of :17.419, a 99 speed index, was the fastest trial time recorded.

Todd and Jodi Horton bred the Valiant Hero filly in Texas from the Sixarun mare Sweethearts Quicksix. The Charlton Hunt trainee is 1-1-1 in three starts this season.

Nomomonkeybizness' time of :17.507 was the second-fastest on the night. Berkley Packer rode the Easy Winning Jet gelding for owner/breeders Dr. Scott and Darlene Hay. Robert Shane Stout trains the sorrel out of the My Designated Driver mare Hot Stuffs Domino.
