Jump Down Azoom Takes La Plata

Winning for the fourth time in his last five starts, Crowson Racing’s Jump Down Azoom earned his first career stakes victory in Saturday’s $35,000 La Plata Stakes (G3) at SunRay Park. Ridden by L. Salvador Martinez for trainer Victor Rodriguez-Flores, the 4-year-old Azoom gelding prevailed by a half-length as the 2-1 second choice. The Texas-bred clocked 400 yards in :19.466.

This victory was worth $21,000 and pushed Jump Down Azoom’s career bankroll to $105,998 with a record of 17-5-3-1. After winning just once in his first 12 trips to the post, Jump Down Azoom has now won four times since December. His only recent defeat was a sixth-place finish in the West Texas Maturity (G2).
