Rollickin Red Takes NM Horsemen's Cap

New Mexico-bred picks up another 870-yard stakes win.

June 23, 2013

Rollickin Red picked up his ninth career win in 12 starts as he prevailed by a head in Sunday’s $65,000 New Mexico Horsemen’s Association Handicap (R) at SunRay Park. Ridden by Casey Lambert for trainer Todd Fincher, the 5-year-old gelding by Roll Hennessy Roll (TB) traveled 870 yards in :45.100.

Owned by Rollickin Red Partners and bred by Robert Gentry, Rollickin Red finished off the board in his first two career starts and is just a neck short of being undefeated in 10 starts since then. His only defeat since February 2011 was a close second in the New Mexico Cup 870 Championship (R) last year at Zia Park. His earnings now stand at $290,242 and this marked his third career stakes win.

Longshot Corona Dream, away at odds of 32-1, put in a valiant effort to finish second. KC Royal Flush, who defeated Rollickin Red at Zia Park last year, closed well for third.
