Under jockey Scott Sterr, Snowboundbeast recovered from a bump at the start to take the lead at the mid-point and pull away in :17.89, a 93 speed index, for the 350 yards. The $11,651 winner's purse boosted the gelding's earnings mark to $17,350.
Anita Bramlette bred the gray Snowbound (TB) 3-year-old in California from the Mr Eye Opener mare Going Single. Undefeated in three starts this season, Snowboundbeast has won all three of his starts by one-length. His only off-the-board performance came in his lone start at 2, when he was fourth at Los Alamitos Race Course after lugging in. Frey purchased Snowboundbeast following that race. Snowboundbeast broke his maiden in his first start at Los Alamitos for Frey and then won his Maiden Challenge trial at Lethbridge.
Still winless in nine starts, Northforkzoom picked up $4,976 for his second-place effort. The Mezoomn 4-year-old races for Glenn Willis and Tom Copithorne. William Leech saddled with Ramiro Castillo getting the riding assignment. The Alberta homebred, out of RJ Bittrroot Babe by El Mistral, has been in the money in six times.
After breaking out at the start under jockey Tyler Walker, Miracle Recovery earned $2,427 for third. Runner up in the Canadian Cup Futurity (RG3) at Lethbridge last September, the Dean Miracle colt races for Ralph Danard and is trained by Laurie Ferguson. Bred in New Mexico by Horner Running Horses LLC, Miracle Recovery has earned $18,689. He is out of the Reckless Dash mare Reckless Coin.
