Charles Forbes and Tommy Hays’ come-backing Sure Shot B heads the $25,000 B.F. Phillips Jr. Stakes (RG3) for Texas-breds Saturday night at Lone Star Park.

The race was originally slated for last Saturday, but postponed when the final five races on the program were cancelled due to inclement weather. Champion Prospect To The Top was entered last week and did not re-enter this week.

Sure Shot B (Stoli-She A Miracle by Dean Miracle) returned after a nearly 11-month layoff on October 3 and responded with a game head win in a Lone Star Park allowance as the 3-2 favorite for trainer Bobby Martinez.

Sure Shot B was one of the leading members of his division at 2 when he won the $1 million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) and qualified for the $500,000 Ruidoso Futurity (G1).

Bobby Myers’ homebred Nash Jolla (Adrians Jolla-Joyalty by Royal Shake Em) was second behind Sure Shot B in that allowance race and is back for another try after that narrow loss. The Judd Kearl-trained gelding won for a $15,000 claiming tag and then was third in the $39,000 TQHA Classic Stakes (R) before the allowance race against Sure Shot B.

G.S. Fikes’ Loves Brown Sugar (Prime Talent-Loves Easter Bunny by Royal Shake Em) had a five-race winning streak end when she stepped up in class and was a troubled sixth in the $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap (G1), her latest start. She culminated her winning streak with three wins in minor stakes at Retama Park.
