AQHA Select World Show 2015

2013 Select World

3-Year-Old Fillies

Elacion is the gift that keeps on giving at the 2013 Adequan Select World Championship Show.

This 3-year-old palomino is the gift that keeps on giving. Exhibitor Mimsi Roe Lovering bought Elacion for her husband, Thomas Andrew Coon, last Christmas and the filly just keeps winning.

Mimsi is elated.

It feels “absolutely awesome! I won it for my husband,” she said of her world championship.

“I bought her for him for his Christmas present last year. She won premier world at the yellow (Palomino Horse Breeders of America) world this year. So this is just icing.”

She showed two other horses this year at the 2013 Adequan Select World Championship Show, but none have had quite this much success.

She was reserve world champion with her yearling stallion, Simply Sirprizin.

It gets even sweeter that this is Mimsi’s first world championship. She wiped tears of joy from her cheeks at the barn. Her support group surrounded her to congratulate her and her husband.

“It is my very first (world championship). I’ve gotten reserve and thirds, and other placings, but never won,” said Mimsi.

This is Elacion’s first AQHA world championship, as well. She has been making gains on the title every year since her appearance as a yearling. She placed third at the Adequan Select World as a yearling in 2011 and sixth in 2012 as a 2-year-old.

Mimsi is very proud of her Christmas purchase. Elacion is by Mr Elusive and out of Skip Finesse by Skips Beyond.

“She has a paint world championship as a yearling. She also won at the palomino worlds as a yearling. So she’s an awfully good mare. And she’s real easy to show. I love her,” Mimsi said.

Ever the ray of sunshine, Mimsi shared a piece of advice about keeping a positive attitude. She said, "when we complain someone will always try to out-do us, so instead, be optimistic and never complain – people will start to wonder what you’re doing right."

This mentality spoke loud and clear as she mentioned her halter run. Her filly was a little fresh when she entered the arena, rearing up and kicking out, but it didn’t faze Mimsi.

“She just decided to show off today, I guess she wanted the judges not to miss her,” said Mimsi.

Halter is about conformation, so this little hiccup did nothing to distract the judges.

And the win was no easy feat. The class was tough, with reigning world champions filling up the class.

No sweat for Mimsi and her horse Elacion.

“I knew that we had done what we were supposed to do. The mare looked like she should. I knew that I was going to do what I was supposed to because Ted (Turner) has trained me very well. I felt confident,” said Mimsi.

She felt primed and ready to take on the class thanks to her trainer, AQHA Professional Horseman Ted Turner, whom she has been working with since she purchased the horse.

“We have four or five horses with him, we show a lot,” said Mimsi.

She has loved horses since she was a girl.

“I first fell off my pony when I was 3 years old,” but didn’t purchase a horse for another 15 years. She bought her own horse when she was18 and boarded two others to pay for it.

She has been showing halter horses for about eight years.

Even outside of horses, Mimsi has always been busy. After 30 years, she retired from the phone company.

It's your moment; make it last forever! “I got to be supervisor for the service representatives. I traveled all over the state of Florida. I got a promotion to come out to Texas. I was over the employee stores that we had. I was over all of our mail rooms across the country, which includes Hawaii, and it was wonderful. I had lots of fun, met tons of people, it kept me busy,” said Mimsi.

This world championship is just another notch in the belt of this busy horseman.
