Weanling Colts

A longtime breeder wins his first world championship at the Adequan Select World Championship Show.

One of the all-time leading breeders of world champion halter horses finally earned a gold trophy of his own.

On August 28, Clark Rassi of Aubrey, Texas, led BPF Classic to the world championship in weanling colts at the 2013 Adequan Select World Championship Show in Amarillo.

“It was thrilling,” he said in his Journal interview. “I’ve never won a world championship before this show. I’m always third. This time, I came out on top. Always everyone else shows my horses, and this time, I showed my own.

“This is the best.”

BPF Classic is a buckskin stallion by Kids Classic Style and out of Sincere A Te by Sierra Te. Clark bred and owns the colt, and his win comes in Clark’s first trip to Adequan Select World.

“(His dam is) the mother of another stud we stand right now named Fearles,” Clark said. “So we have great plans for this colt. We’re planning to have him as our outcross sire for daughters of Telasecret – the filly that just won the baby class is by Telasecret – and The Top Secret. So we’re excited about it.”

BPF Classic was first under all five judges.

“He’s exceptional in his back and his croup and his hocks,” Clark said. “He has a beautiful head and neck and he’s correct and we’re really excited about him.”

Clark has plans to celebrate his first world championship.

“I’m flying out of here today, and we’re going to celebrate in New York City this weekend for Labor Day,” he said.
