The signature artist for the ninth annual America’s Horse in Art will be Iwona Jankowski of Magnolia, Texas.
“I am honored to announce Iwona Jankowski as the 2016 America’s Horse in Art signature artist,” said Brent Davison, AQHF chief foundation officer. “The American Quarter Horse has long been a focus of Western art, and we appreciate having a talented and unique Western artist like Iwona headlining our art show.”
As a child, Iwona Jankowski’s first art depicted horses. She later graduated from the School of Visual Arts in Gydnia, Poland, and then pursued a career in graphic art to broaden her skills and identify her means of artistic expression. She captures the uniqueness of life, often paying no attention to exact shapes, textures and colors so that she can emphasize a small fragment to insinuate an idea or feeling. Developed in 2002, her famous “Mottled Horses” series merges abstract and expressionism with a touch of realism. Her unique and imaginative approach to the subject has garnered attention and she has been featured in a variety of publications in media, including Who’s Who in American Art, The Artist’s Blue Book, EQUUS magazine, Art Horse Magazine and many more.
Each year, the show’s signature artist creates a piece of art that becomes the visual representation of the show for that year. Jankowski’s piece will be featured in print and online marketing materials, and also as a print when available.
