The 14th annual America's Horse in Art Show is August 20 through October 22, 2022.

The America’s Horse in Art Show & Sale is a fundraiser for the American Quarter Horse Foundation. A portion of the proceeds benefits the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum. The Hall of Fame preserves history and the American Quarter Horse and develops a variety of educational and outreach programs to enrich the lives of members and the Panhandle community.

This exhibition is an invitation only art show focusing on traditional western art and sculpture showcasing the American Quarter Horse. Artwork is juried by an acceptance committee and includes various mediums such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, bronze, etc. A signature artist is selected each year to represent the annual show, illustrating the quality and splendor of artwork on display.

Opening Reception: August 20

Meet some of the participating artists and view and purchase art at an opening reception starting at 6:30 p.m. on August 20, at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum in Amarillo, Texas. The reception will include entertainment, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres for guests and an exclusive opportunity to be the first to purchase from the show. If you are unable to attend the opening reception, proxy bidding options are available by contacting our staff artshow@aqha.org.

Interested in purchasing art, but can’t attend? The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum offers proxy bidding, an easy and safe way to purchase. Museum staff will manage your shopping list and enter your ballots at sale time. If your ballot is drawn during the reception, the piece will be marked as sold; and you will be contacted.

Online Preview & Bidding

An online preview of the show, which also boasts a new, more polished logo, will be available in July at aqha.com/artshow. After opening night, remaining art will be available for purchase online until  October 22. All purchased artwork will remain on display at the Museum through the end of the exhibit.

Steel Dust Award

The show will honor one artist with the Steel Dust Award, generously sponsored by Art of the West magazine. Selected by a panel of judges, the award is based on artistic merit and will recognize the recipient artist in a "best of show" competition.

Opportunities for Artists

Due to the increasing number of artists seeking to participate in our annual show, we are exploring multiple options that will allow for additional exhibitions that we hope will benefit both established and up and coming artists. As we develop new opportunities for artistic style, interpretation, and expression, we will provide additional information on how interested artists may participate in these upcoming shows.
