It’s a perfect fall day for a ride. You start to halter your horse, but notice he has a runny nose. There is hay left over from last night in the feeder. This can’t be happening – you vaccinated him this spring. Now what?
Even if your horse is properly vaccinated, health concerns can occur. That’s where the Zoetis Equine Immunization Support Guarantee provides peace of mind. When horses are vaccinated by a veterinarian with FLUVAC INNOVATOR® and WEST NILE-INNOVATOR®, the Equine Immunization Support Guarantee ensures you have backing to help determine the cause of illness. Zoetis provides diagnostics for vaccinated horses exhibiting clinical signs of disease at no cost to the horse owner or veterinarian. Additionally, if the horse is diagnosed with a disease he was vaccinated against, Zoetis covers up to $5,000 of treatment costs.
“The Zoetis Equine Immunization Support Guarantee is similar to an insurance policy. However, it does not cost the horse owner anything,” says Kevin Hankins, DVM, senior veterinarian, Zoetis Equine Technical Services. “The Equine Immunization Support Guarantee ensures you have backing to determine the cause of illness for vaccinated horses. With equine disease outbreaks being reported across the country, now is the time to work with your veterinarian to develop comprehensive equine vaccination and biosecurity programs.”
Oftentimes, prevention really is the best medicine. Download AQHA’s Common Horse Health Issues ebook and learn why vaccinating your horse against disease is so important.
The Equine Immunization Support Guarantee is the most comprehensive equine vaccination guarantee available. All products within the FLUVAC INNOVATOR and WEST NILE-INNOVATOR lines of vaccines from Zoetis are covered. Specific diseases covered by the Equine Immunization Support Guarantee include respiratory disease caused by equine herpesvirus types 1 (EHV-1) and 4 (EHV-4) (also called equine rhinopneumonitis), West Nile, equine influenza, tetanus, Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE), Western equine encephalitis (WEE) and Venezuelan equine encephalitis (VEE).
If a horse is exhibiting clinical signs of disease, your veterinarian simply needs to contact Zoetis Veterinary Medical Information and Product Support (VMIPS) at 1-888-ZOETIS-1 (1-888-963-8471). Zoetis will work with you to begin immediate diagnostic work.

“Properly administered vaccines help reduce the risk of infection. How vaccines are administered has also been shown to influence the immune response. Work with your veterinarian to formulate a complete equine vaccination program addressing both core and risk diseases,” Dr. Hankins says. “The Equine Immunization Support Guarantee program provides a great opportunity to discuss each horse’s individual risk factors with your veterinarian.”
