Snacks to Make for Your Wrangler NFR Watch Party

It’s time to rustle up some grub for the 10-day shindig known as the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

Great food and great friends makes a perfect Wrangler NFR Watch Party. Journal photo.

It’s here! The 2017 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is finally here! The 10-day competition kicks off December 7 and runs through December 16 in Las Vegas. For those of us not able to make it to the Thomas & Mack Center, we still have the chance to live it up with the  best watch party imaginable.

I did a little digging and found some recipes my AQHA coworkers and Pinterest bloggers love to make for their watch parties. These simple and short recipes will keep your mind off the kitchen and on the TV.

Sausage and Green Chile Pinwheels

  • 1 lb. breakfast sausage
  • 1 c. chopped roasted green chile (canned works, too)
  • 1 8-oz. package of cream cheese
  • Tortillas

Cook sausage and set aside to cool. Add green chile and cream cheese in a bowl and add sausage. Mix together. Spread evenly on tortilla and roll tortilla. Place in fridge overnight so tortilla stays rolled. Cut into half inch pieces and serve.

Easy Feta Dip

  • About 1/3 c. olive oil

  • 3 roma tomatoes, seeded and diced

  • 4-5 green onions, sliced thinly

  • 8 oz. feta cheese, crumbled

  • 2-3 tsp. Cavender's Greek seasoning

  • Fresh baguette, sliced thinly

  1. On a large platter, drizzle olive oil until you have a thin layer on the entire platter. You may use more or less here depending on your preference.

  2. Add the tomatoes, green onions and feta on top of the olive oil. Sprinkle with the Greek seasoning to taste.

  3. With a spoon, carefully combine the ingredients. (Note: We like a little drizzle of balsamic vinegar on top. If desired, drizzle a little balsamic on top.)

  4. Serve with warm sliced baguettes for scooping up the dip.
