AQHA Offers Ring Steward Seminar

In March, attend the first-ever Ring Steward and Scribe Seminar held in conjunction with the Judges Educational Seminar.

The American Quarter Horse Journal

When you leave the show arena, do you ever wonder how your score or placing was calculated?

Or do you aspire to be a ring steward at AQHA and other breed-association shows?

Or even if you’re looking to become a ring steward for your affiliate or local club, AQHA’s Ring Steward Seminar is for you. The Ring Steward and Scribe seminar is March 17, 2011, at the Sheraton Grand Hotel at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport in Irving, Texas, and will be held in conjunction with the March 14-16 Judges Educational Seminar.

Join AQHA World Championship Show ring stewards Don Manuello and Tracy Hatakeyama at this informative seminar. Learn how to assemble classes and handle other ring steward responsibilities like assisting the judge with unruly horses and mediating between judges and exhibitors.

There are many benefits that come with being a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Learn how you can get discounts with AQHA corporate partners, show at official AQHA events, enroll in horseback riding programs and receive America’s Horse magazine by becoming an AQHA member.

With the increasing number of “scored” classes, accuracy in scribing, which is the written documentation of the judges’ maneuver scores and penalties, is a must. You will have the opportunity to scribe “scored” classes during the seminar, so you are confident when working your next event. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from two of the best in the industry!

There are three attendance options, and you may want to consider attending both seminars so you can better understand the penalties and maneuver scores associated with each class held at AQHA shows:

    • Judging seminar, March 14-16: $350
    • Ring steward one-day seminar, March 17: $150
    • Attend both seminars: $450

Be sure to register by February 28 to reserve your spot in this one-of-a-kind seminar.

Whether you’re renewing your membership or joining for the first time, being an AQHA member come with plenty of perks. You can get corporate partner discounts, receive America’s Horse magazine, show at official shows and join the horseback riding program!
