Eddie Jensen’s Jess A Dash Of Class prevailed as the 7-5 favorite in Saturday’s $140,400 Wyoming Bred Derby (R) at Energy Downs 307 Racing. David Alvarez Jr. rode the Jess Paint Me filly for trainer Kylie Valenzuela in a 350-yard sprint timed in :17.463 for a 103 speed index.
Bred by Ron and Laurie Moosman out of the stakes-winning Winners Version mare Steffiesclassic Dash, Jess A Dash Of Class recorded her sixth win from nine starts and improved her bankroll to $155,700. Last year the filly won the WABRA Wyoming Bred Futurity (R) at Sweetwater Downs and finished third in the Wyoming Downs Futurity at Wyoming Downs.
Banquet, a filly by Flay running for owner and trainer Aldo Pinela, took second with Luis Valenzuela riding. Teller June, a filly by Junior June Bug, ran third with Juan Rivas in the saddle for owner Alejandro Saenz and trainer Jorge Garfias.
