The Championship at Sunland Park

The Championship at Sunland Park is one of the premier races in North America for older horses.

The inaugural Championship at Sunland Park (G1) race for 3-year-old and up horses was raced in December of 2001.  The race has historically been conducted the last weekend of the calendar year. Offering a $350,000 or above purse each year, the race stands as one of the premier races in North America for older horses.

The vast majority of winners of the Championship at Sunland Park have earned AQHA Racing Champion titles.
