Applying with Confidence
The American Quarter Horse Foundation (AQHF) provides scholarships to support AQHA members in their pursuit of higher education. Applications must be submitted online using AQHF's required templates and must include all requested materials to be eligible for review. Scholarships are renewable based on continued academic progress and submission of required materials (i.e., scholarship claiming documentation).
Tips for a Strong Application
- Know the Requirements – Review eligibility criteria for each scholarship.
- Show AQHA Involvement – Highlight your experiences with the American Quarter Horse through leadership, service, ranch work, or competition.
- Tell Your Story – Share authentic, specific goals and experiences that demonstrate your passion, leadership, and impact.
- Get Strong References – Ask mentors, youth advisors, teachers and employers who know you well to provide thoughtful recommendations.
- Be Organized & Professional – Meet deadlines, submit all materials, and proofread for accuracy.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Missing or incomplete materials
- Generic or vague resumes/personal statements
- Limited American Quarter Horse or community involvement
- Poor formatting, grammar, or rushed presentation
- Late submission (automatic disqualification)
