The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum is a great place for Panhandle natives and visitors to experience a piece of the West. It's a place for horse lovers of all ages to learn more about the breed and a quiet sanctuary in which to appreciate some outstanding artwork.

Museum Hours

Tuesday through Friday*: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday*: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The last ticket sold 30 minutes prior to closing. Please contact the Museum for more information.

From the West on I-40:

• Take Exit 72A toward Quarter Horse Dr.
• Merge onto I-40 access road
• Make a sharp left under the overpass to continue on the access road going west
• Museum is located on the right.

 From the East on I-40: 

• Take Exit 72A toward Quarter Horse Dr. 
• Merge onto I-40 access road
• Continue west 1 block past Quarter Horse Dr. 
• Museum is located on the right

The Hall of Fame & Museum has on-site parking. Buses and/or trailers should park on the east side of the museum between the American Quarter Horse Association Headquarters and the Hall of Fame & Museum in the designated bus/trailer parking area. 

Adult or Tour Bus Groups

We offer a brief welcome orientation when guests arrive. Guests can explore the Museum at their own pace. Please make group reservations at least two weeks prior to your arrival by contacting the Hall of Fame at 806-376-5181 or museum@aqha.org. The following rates are per person for groups of 10 or more:

Schools

We believe every child's visit to the Hall of Fame should help them understand the role our horse has played in history and into the present day. The Museum's activities are designed to teach this message through age-appropriate activities with real value and concrete links to information being taught in school. Our education staff works closely with WoWW consultants and area educators to develop our field trip activities.

Upon arriving at the Museum, students will be greeted in the Grand Hall, where they will receive an explanation of our rules to help them learn general museum behavior. Museum staff will also answer questions about the American Quarter Horse and explain the tour's relation to what they are learning in the classroom.

Kindergarten through high school and home school group rates* for guided field trips:

• Teachers and volunteers: Free**
• Students (all ages): $5

*Rates only apply to school groups who scheduled a grade-appropriate program two weeks in advance and which consist of 15 students in the same grade level.

**One volunteer per every ten students will receive free admission. Field trips must be booked two weeks in advance and groups must consist of  at least 15 students.

Mop Pony Trail Rides

The Mop Pony Trail Ride is a fun activity designed for children in Kindergarten through 1st grade visiting the Museum. Each child will be assigned a mop pony, and they will learn how to care for it and go on a brief trail ride through the Grand Hall.
 

Westward Expansion with the American Quarter Horse

Students in 2nd through 6th grade will use the timeline exhibit to learn more about life on a cattle drive for the American Quarter Horse and the cowboy.  Teachers must select two of the four available activities that best fit their students' learning needs.  More than two activities may be offered if the group is larger than 30 students. 

The children will work together as a team–like the horse and rider–to put together an 8' x 8' puzzle.  They can touch artifacts from a chuck wagon, examine western horse tack and create their own brand. 

A scavenger hunt is offered to students in 7th through 12th grade.  This age group will be given more time to explore the exhibits and find answers throughout the museum while learning about the American Quarter Horse.  We encourage these students to bring electronic devices to take photos in the Museum which they can present while sharing their responses with the group.
