All American Derby (G1)

The All American Derby (G1) is run every Labor Day weekend at Ruidoso Downs in the mountain village of Ruidoso, New Mexico.

The All American Derby (G1) is run every Labor Day weekend at Ruidoso Downs in the mountain village of Ruidoso, New Mexico. The 3-year-old race will run on September 2, 2018.  Trials will be held on August 19, 2018.

Run over 440 yards on the day preceding Labor Day, the All American Derby offers the winner more than just the lion’s share of the large purse, which has reached as high as $2.8 million. It also awards the winner with an invitation to the Grade 1 Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos Race Course in Southern California. The Grade 1 All American Gold Cup (G1), contested on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, also offers a Champion of Champions invitation to the winner.

The All American Derby was first run in 1974.

The 2018 edition will be run Monday, September 3, 2018.

Quarter Horse Triple Crown Derby: The All American Derby is the third and final leg of the Quarter Horse Derby Triple Crown at Ruidoso Downs. In the event one horse wins all three races (Ruidoso Derby, Rainbow Derby and All American Derby), its connections will receive a $1 million bonus.
