Preyn Onthe Mountain scored an upset victory at odds of 11-1 in Saturday’s 400-yard, $106,500 ARC Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) for fillies and mares.

Trained by Eddie Willis for owner Stetson Hurlbert, Preyn Onthe Mountain defeated 19-1 longshot Weetonas Lafawn by a half of a length in :19.625. Jimmy Dean Brooks rode the 4-year-old daughter of the Corona Cartel stallion Ivory James.

Preyn Onthe Mountain was bred in Oklahoma by Dr. Steve Hurlbert, and the mare was coming off of a neck victory at odds of 10-1 in the September 22, $31,200 ARC Will Rogers Downs Distaff Challenge Stakes at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Oklahoma.

Preyn Onthe Mountain has won four of 10 races, including all three of her outs at the 400-yard distance, and the $48,990 winner’s share of the purse from her second stakes victory increased her earnings to $114,265.

LJ Moonrise finished third and was followed by 4-5 favorite Curls Happy Wagon. Favorite Bling, Yashira Vista, True Copy, Love To Reason Br, The Polar Vortex, and DF Apollitical Sign completed the order of finish.
