Huron, South Dakota, will play host to the 2019 National Junior High Finals Rodeo June 23-29.
The NJHFR falls under the umbrella of the National High School Rodeo Association; the junior high division was created in 2004. The finals for high school students, the National High School Finals Rodeo, is July 14-20 in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Events included at the 2019 NJHFR:
- Boys breakaway roping
- Girls breakaway roping
- Tie-down roping
- Ribbon roping
- Chute dogging
- Team roping
- Pole bending
- Bareback steer riding
- Barrel racing
- Saddle bronc riding
- Girls goat tying
- Boys goat tying
- Bull riding
Junior high members nominated their American Quarter Horses by March 1 to be eligible for the boys’ and girls’ AQHA Horse of the Year titles. Winners are presented trophy saddles at the NJHFR.
