Canterbury Park has released its stakes schedule for its 2020 season, which opens May 15.
Canterbury Park's signature Quarter Horse race, the $150,000-est. Mystic Lake Northlands Futurity, will be run on August 9, a month later than usual. Also that day is the Canterbury Park Quarter Horse Derby. In 2019, Canterbury experimented successfully with a day comprised solely of Quarter Horse races, and the track will do the same on July 5 of the upcoming season.
On July 5, the track will offer six stakes, including the Bank of America Canterbury Park Championship Challenge (G3). The Minnesota Quarter Horse Derby (R) and Minnesota Quarter Horse Futurity (R) will be part of the Minnesota Festival of Champions program on September 5.
Canterbury Park concludes its 65-day season on September 12.
