One of the great things about AQHA is that it is governed by our members. Each spring, AQHA members gather for the annual AQHA conveniton to review member-submitted rule changes, appoint new AQHA directors, induct new American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame members and elect the AQHA Executive Committee. While this event is a lot of fun, with entertaining banquets and social events, AQHA convention is an important opportunity for the AQHA Executive Committee and board of directors to hear the ideas and suggestions of our valued membership.
Have you ever wondered, "Who makes AQHA rules?" The answer is not anyone who works at AQHA headquarters in Amarillo. Rules are proposed and discussed and passed by AQHA members. And any member can potentially change our Association. Rule changes are handled through the AQHA committees, which meet at convention. You can check out the schedule to see exactly what topics are up for discussion. Have an opinion about an item being discussed? Contact your state national directors and let them know. Better yet?
