A charitable trust has been established to benefit the children of Dr. David Stone, resident veterinarian at the Lazy E Ranch in Guthrie Oklahoma, who passed away in April of this year.
Born in Scottsboro, Alabama, Dr. Stone was a graduate of Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. At various times throughout his career he practiced in Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma and California. Along the way he refined his veterinary skills to become one of the top equine reproductive specialists in the country. While working for some of the premier racing Quarter Horse ranches in the country, including the historic Vessels Stallion Station in Bonsall, California, Dr. Stone managed many of the top siring Quarter Horse racing stallions in AQHA history.
Known and respected for his skill as a veterinarian nationwide, Dr. Stone was loved by many for his gracious, generous spirit. He loved telling stories about his two children, daughter Olyvia and son Harrison Stone, and would regale all who would listen of their latest exploits. Dr. Stone's many friends and colleagues are unanimous in praising his generous spirit and his overwhelming kindness to everyone he encountered. His deep southern drawl and sense of humor are fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Dr. Stone is remembered for leadership in his field and willingness to share that enthusiasm by teaching others. He was a founding member of Veterinarians Encouraging and Teaching, an organization devoted to providing veterinary students interested in equine medicine with additional educational opportunities. He was loved by both the students and his peers in the organization for his abilities as a teacher and his love of veterinary medicine.
For those interested in contributing to the future well-being and education of Dr. Stone's children, donations may be sent to:
