RACE RECORD: Last year’s champion 2-year-old colt, Flying Cowboy 123 last year was second in the Rainbow Futurity (G1) and won the Texas Classic Futurity (G1). He was fourth in this year’s Ruidoso Derby (G1) before winning his All American Derby trial to grab the fourth-fastest qualifying time.
BREEDER: Michigan resident Carolyn Bay also bred and raced world champion Cold Cash 123 ($1,409,781), and over more than 40 years has bred in her own name or the name of her T Bill Stables the earners of more than $4 million.
OWNER: Thomas Lipar’s Paragon Farms LLC paid $100,000 to acquire the horse at the 2017 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. The farm’s horses have earned more than $3.2 million, and also include the likes of High Plains Perry ($769,655) and Tough To Bee ($687,067)
TRAINER: As a jockey, J.J. Gonzalez rode By By JJ to win the 2003 All American Futurity. As a trainer, he has saddled the earners of more than $4 million, including Grade 1 winner Executive Brass. He also trains All American Futurity qualifiers Mister Riptide and Lil Miss Sashay, and Derby qualifier Tools In The Sky.
QUALIFYING JOCKEY: Champion jockey Ricky Ramirez knows how to be a winner on and off the track. The rider was named the sport’s champion rider in 2015, and last year was named the Sam Thompson Memorial Jockey Award winner, which is an award given to a jockey by his or her peers based on personal character on and off the racetrack. He has ridden more than 1,200 winners and the earners of more than $33.4 million, but is still seeking his first All American Futurity victory.
PEDIGREE: The sire of two All American Derby qualifiers, Apollitical Jess is also the sire of American Hussle. The 12-year-old son of Mr Jess Perry earned more than $1.3 million on the racetrack and has to date sired the earners of more than $27.7 million. The stallion stands at James Ranch in Wayne, Oklahoma.
Dam Hot Cash 123 has produced seven winners from 11 starters, and the earners of more than $2.3 million. Among them are world champion Cold Cash 123 ($1,409,781).
