Eagle Deluxe, a 4-year-old One Famous Eagle stallion and a 12-1 longshot, scored an upset victory in Saturday's opening-day feature at Prairie Meadows, the 400-yard, $50,000 Keokuk Stakes (G3).
Trained by Jason Olmstead for owners Tom Maher, Bill Maher, and Movin On, Eagle Deluxe defeated 3-1 longshot Ferrari James by a half of a length in :19.867. Berkley Packer rode Eagle Deluxe, who earned $27,500 from his third stakes win.
Eagle Deluxe was bred in Louisiana by Grant Farms LLC, and he was just six days removed from a fourth-place finish in the August 11 Skip Zimmerman Memorial Stakes at Canterbury Park in Minnesota. The stallion has won four of 26 starts and has banked $146,541, and his stakes resume includes a victory in the 2017 Mystic Lake Northlands Futurity at Canterbury Park.
Htr Miamor Tequilla ran third, a nose behind Ferrari James. Ms Jess Knockout, Three Olives N Smoke, High Rate Of Motion, JK Wildcat Red, Tommy The Train, Bye Byefreighttrain, Faster Than Hasta, and Mr Corona Crystal completed the order of finish.
