Rito Sosa’s homebred Ivory Macho Man, the fastest qualifier and second choice in the betting at 5-2, closed strongly on Saturday to capture the $421,500 Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) at Lone Star Park. Bryan Candanosa was aboard the KJ Mucho Macho Man gelding for trainer Jose Gamez and clocked 400 yards in :19.765 for a 92 speed index.
This was the fourth win in five starts for the Oklahoma-bred and boosted his bankroll to $205,854. Ivory Macho Man kicked off his racing career at Remington Park, where he won a maiden and an allowance race before shipping to Fair Meadows. He ran second in a Speedhorse Futurity (G3) trial there before moving on to Lone Star, where he rolled to a two-length victory in his Dash For Cash trial. Ivory Macho Man is out of the winning Ivory James mare Alondra Grace, who was also bred and owned by Sosa.
Orona Racing LLC’s Unleeshed, a Freighttrain B gelding who this summer won his trials but did not qualify for the Grade 1 Rainbow and All American futurities, finished a game second after also winning his Dash For Cash trial. The Texas-bred has now earned $90,222 with three wins from six starts.
Jose Martin Ramirez Garcia’s A Maverick, a gelding by A Revenant who won the $620,000 TQHA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Retama Park, had the early lead and held on for third.
