With his :19.895 final clocking going 400 yards on Saturday night, Doodah Cartel posted the fastest qualifying time to the Grade 1, $1,170,950 Golden State Million Futurity, which will be decided on October 26 at Los Alamitos.

A homebred son of Favorite Cartel, Doodah Cartel competes for Thompson Racing, Alexis Andrade and Paul Jones with Jones doing the training and Henry Lopez guiding him to victory in the seventh of 14 trials. He earned an 87 speed index for the win.

Doodah Cartel previously qualified for the Grade 1 Ed Burke and the Grade 2 PCQHRA Breeders’ futurities at Los Alamitos, finishing fourth in the former while suffering a troubled trip in the PCQHRA last month. Doodah Cartel was bred in California by Paul Jones and Thompson Racing out of Suite Expectations, a mare by Apollitical Jess who was second in the 2021 Las Damas Handicap (G2) at Los Alamitos.

The second-fastest qualifier was EG High Desert Farms LLC’s homebred Jess Im Worth It, who won the fifth heat in a time of :19.870. The colt by A Mere Felix is now riding a four-race winning streak that includes a ¾-length victory in the $1-million Ed Burke Million Futurity (G1) on June 15.

The third-fastest time went to Keith Nellesen’s Beuteeful, a Utah-bred filly by KVN Corona who clocked the distance in :19.892. Beuteeful is undefeated in four starts and was running for the first time since taking the $275,800 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity (G2) in May.

Completing the list of qualifiers for the Golden State Million are Enforce (:19.906), Whos The V (:19.960), DR Make It Sweet (:19.965), Warm Springs (:19.971), AJ Cyclone (:19.996); DR Stone Cold (:20.033) and The Lady Is A Vamp (:20.038).
