The Oregon Quarter Horse Association Fall Spectacular wrapped up September 14 in Eugene, Oregon, after four days of showing, learning and sunshine.

A particularly fun highlight of the show was the free barbecue for exhibitors on September 12, where good food and great company was enjoyed out by the barns. Several clinics preceded the barbecue, including:

  • Roping – Mike Marriott of Aurora, Oregon, and Dale Tingle of Corning, California
  • Working cow horse – Brandon Staebler of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and Jim Spence of Yamhill, Oregon
  • Advanced reining – Gary Roberts of Murrieta, California
  • Advanced showmanship – Nancy Alto-Refro of Finley, California

On Saturday, several more clinics were offered:

  • Advanced trail – Gary Roberts
  • Advanced horsemanship – Nancy Alto-Renfro
  • Beginning horsemanship and trail – Laura Satern of Silverton, Oregon, and Sarah Hamer-Raschein of Albany, Oregon

OQHA show organizers would like to extend a huge thank you to these AQHA Professional Horsemen for their help with the clinics.

Horsemen and -women tested their mettle in an all-breeds trail competition, which was held on an outdoor extreme trail course. The course featured 12 to 16 obstacles, depending on the class. The obstacles ranged from a pond to boulders and trees. Five classes, or divisions, were offered, and the winners were:
