Rain or shine, for the past 77 years the Sonoita Quarter Horse Show has been a mainstay for Arizona Quarter Horse exhibitors. In 2015, the show ran June 11-14 at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds.
The event kicked off with Versatility Ranch Horse classes, where amateur, Level 1 amateur, youth and open competitors vied in ranch riding, ranch trail, ranch cutting, working ranch horse and ranch conformation classes under AQHA judge David Avery, who also judged Friday's single-judge show. The split/combined show Saturday through Sunday was judged by Tom McBeath and Allen Walton.
Great prizes were up for grabs, including circuit awards, all-around buckles, fly sheets for the high-point rope horse and high-point working cow horse, as well as a custom-made leather-and-maple rocking chair donated by Top Stitch Embroidery for the high-point show title.
