FEQHA European Championships

AQHA International Committee Chairwoman Lori Bucholz reports from Germany at the 27th European Championships of American Quarter Horses.

For The American Quarter Horse Journal

I'm honored once again to be attending the Federation of European Quarter Horse Associations' European Championships in Germany. It’s such a great horse show and also a great way to visit with the European AQHA members. At this event, there are 15 countries represented and more 1,100 entries! The judges for the show this year from the USA  are Mike and Charlene Carter, Pam Scott and Chris Benedict and Eugenio Latorre from Italy and Sylvia Jackle from Germany. The show is managed by Micky Kayser and Markus Rensing. Lisa John from England and Butch Carse from the U.S. are the show stewards, and Butch also serves as our chauffeur and travel guide!

The first day of the show started out cool with drizzle, but the horses were working great inside the beautiful Ostbayerhalle arena in Rieden, Kreuth.

The Level 1 (Green), amateur and youth trail classes were the first classes of the show. With more 65 total entries in the trail classes, the judges were busy most of the day. Following the trail were the Ride the Pattern clinics  for showmanship and hunt seat equitation. The day finished with the Level 1 (Green) reining class with 20 entries.

The horses all look fabulous and would be competitive anywhere in the world.

The show will continue until August 14. Watch the live stream, view more photos and check results at www.ecqh.org.
