The American Quarter Horse Journal

Saturday at the 2016 AQHA Region One Scholarship Show got underway with more than 120 showmanship entries. Followed by several more hours of halter, then western riding, hunter under saddle and hunt seat equitation, it was plain to see exhibitors in the Pacific Northwest love the chance to get out and show their American Quarter Horses.

The morning was especially sweet for Cindy Nakahara (below, left) and Janet Olson Grimsby, who celebrated a 1-2 finish in Select showmanship. While both Cindy and Janet have worked with trainers over the years, the two are currently do-it-yourselfers, and for Cindy, the win was extra special because both she and her mare, Versionaire (not pictured), have battled injuries over the past couple years.
