A distinctly western look took over June 5 at the 2016 Merial AQHA Region Nine Championship Show.

The competition concluded with ranch riding, reining, working cow horse, roping and speed events before the naming of the all-around winners in Jackson, Mississippi.

All-around winners in four divisions received a Montana Silversmiths belt buckle from AQHA.

In regional classes throughout the weekend, winners received a belt buckle, second place received a pair of Professional’s Choice Sports Medicine Boots and third place received a Noble Outfitters product.

Level 1 exhibitors could qualify for the 2017 Level 1 Championships with their placings in Jackson.

The championship was in conjunction with the Mississippi Quarter Horse Association Summer Show, a pointed show, which also provided prizes, including a coveted manure fork.
